Cerec 3D does not boot!

Hello to all Cerec users!

I have a big problem with my Cerec 3D. A few months ago it
did not boot. After pressing the power button, the pc started to
work (sounded like that), but on the screen there was the message
"going to sleep" and the monitor fell into standby. I tried to turn
it on a several times, but it did not work.

The next day I wanted to call the technician, but as I turned the power
on, windows started normally.

And it worked until yesterday, when I had the same problem again!
Does anybody have a suggestion what the problem could be?

You need to get someone who knows Windows!

you may have a bad hard drive, but it is probably an error in the startup sequence that windows uses to 'boot up" someone that knows what they are doing can fix this without a problem unless there is a bad controller chip (had this happen on another computer not the cerec one)

you shouldn't have your cerec machine on a network

also make sure the cerec machine is not set to hibernate and be sure at the end of day, the cerec machine is properly shut down (we leave it off untill we need it!)

Sounds like a pc or Windows problem for sure, no need for cerec input (cheaper too!). Local guy should be well up to it.

After a long odyssey I finally found the problem with my
cerec 3d. The power supply unit did not supply enough
electricity for the boot sequence.

So my local technician changed the power supply unit for
little money and now it works again.

So, if you ever discover a problem like this, think about the
power supply unit, even if it seems to work...

14 months into ownership mine wouldn't power up. The supplier, having not returned my calls for 4 days, would only suggest that a replacement pc was the "treatment" at £2,500 (in 2005) without even seeing it! Fantasic for a VERY expensive piece of kit 2 months out of warranty. Not even the offer of a loaner!!. At this point and having nothing to lose (it was scrap I had effectively been told) I thought a bit laterally and so my friendly local shop took a look; it turned out to be a u/s CD drive for £25. Once that was supplied the thing worked fine.

I had an interesting chat with them in Berlin at the 20YC meeting. The senior sales person even told me "the reason you've been down for 3 weeks is because you're too tight to pay £2,500". I still wonder that he didn't end up flat on his back.

It galls me that if there had been any semblance of customer service to start with, that I would have been thoroughly ripped of and been none the wiser. I would have willingly paid?!?!

Always worth a computer shop opinion for a computer so long as you have one you can trust.

My home build upgrade died last week; a rapidly deteriorating hard drive. Local shop replaced it and reinstalled all software for an exceptional £90 and took 2 days from the call. Timing was perfect and I didn't have to reschedule anyone. They didn't supply the pc, the supplier will replace the drive under warranty, but it would have been down longer if I had posted it for the free repair. All I had to do was plug it back in, transfer the patient records and recalibrate it. Electronic thingies do this from time to time. It isn't voodoo and pixies.

And no BS to wash it all down.

Very happy.

It's very important to have a local computer guru to refer to. Any issues we had were all hardware related. Our local guru built our computer and the parts were still under warrentee. He got us back up and running in a day.

I had my network done by the same people. A motherboard failed, replaced and running within 3 hours. Superb. My Cerec 3D "and a bit" wasn't their work, so i'm not bothered as I still jumped the queue a little.

my cerec 3D had had the same problem of not botting twice. I change the power supply once, and know they said that is the same thing. My question is what might be happening, because I turn it of one day and the other day when conneted it, it did not boot. the last power unit, didn`t last not more than 10 times of used. Did it need to be replace completetly? doesn`t it have a relay to protect it? I have to pay technitian to come to my country to replace the part. Can it be done to anyone else? How can I prevent it happen again. Fist I thought it was a problem froma the electracity of my country, but it happen also en germany.

Hi i am having the same problem with my cerec 3d. Would you tell me wich power supply do you change. Because the technitian from patterson said that there is 2 power supply. I would appritiate your help

Hi,

There are 2 power supplies. The one that controls the pc is at the back, inside the pc casing. Take off the rear plastic cover, the round grille at the top is the cooling fan for power supply. The pc slides out very easily (it looks difficult) and the case opens easily too, but it is quite fiddly.

The power supply is a normal computer one which costs a few pounds/dollars or whatever and a computer shop will be able to fit it very easily. It is worth upgrading to a slightly more powerful one. You didn't say how old your machine is.

The other power supply is in the base of the machine beneath a metal plate. It only powers the monitor (if the power light is on then it is ok. If this is dead then just fit a different (bigger) monitor for any computer (or plug it through a TV on the wall!

The machine may not boot for other reasons, on mine it was a dead CD drive. A computer shop can also do this for very much less than Sirona or Patterson.
